We welcome all applications for research training, whether through our own PhD programme, or from self-funded applicants.
Scientists and clinicians interested in applying for a PhD should apply through the University's Euclid online application system.
Before clicking the 'Apply' button, you should change the start date to October 2012.
Please note that, due to problems with the online system, there is no specific option for the 4 year programme. All applicants should choose 'PhD (full time) 3 years'. Your programme preference can be explained fully in the uploaded covering letter (see below).
In your application you should include a covering letter indicating which supervisor(s) you are interested in, the type of PhD program(s) you wish to be considered for (the four year program, the three year program or both programs) and why you are interested in a PhD in Stem Cell Research. The covering letter can be uploaded as part of the online application.
For informal enquiries please contact us at crm-training [at] ed [dot] ac [dot] uk in the first instance.
Please note that once you have submitted your application you will receive an automatic request for a research proposal. At present, it is not possible to block that message so you should upload your covering letter again as a research proposal.
We welcome approaches from scientists and clinicians wishing to undergo a period of research training at the PhD or Post Doc level, and are keen to facilitate fellowship applications from prospective clinical academics in stem cells and regenerative medicine.
Clinicians interested in applying for clinical research training should apply through the Wellcome Trust’s Edinburgh Clinical Academic Training (ECAT) scheme.
Other major funding agencies for UK/EU scientists and clinicians include:
Research Councils UK
Wellcome Trust
Medical Research Council
Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
Cancer Research UK
The Royal Society of Edinburgh
Furlong Charitable Research Fund (Orthopaedic research)
We also welcome approaches from self funded non EU applicants.
