Professor Sir Ian Wilmut has had an enormous impact on science. From his groundbreaking work creating Dolly the Sheep, the first adult mammalian clone, to his leadership as founding director of the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine, he has established an international reputation in the field of regenerative medicine.
Sir Ian's friends and colleagues would like to honour him by creating a postgraduate student fund in his name. The funds raised will be available on a competitive basis to postgraduate students undertaking projects within the MRC CRM related to stem cells and regenerative medicine. It will be presented to Sir Ian at the Centre's Driving Stem Cell Research Towards Therapy symposium in May.
